Revealed: Barcelona paid Liverpool THIS MUCH for Luis Suarez in 2014

Everyone knows that Barcelona, as one of the world’s richest clubs, have the money to buy just about any player they want. So when they set their eyes on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in 2014 it was only a matter of time before he made the move from Anfield to Camp Nou. After months of hints and speculation though, we finally know exactly how much the La Liga giants paid for Liverpool’s superb scoring machine.

According to the Telegraph, the final transfer fee for Luis Suarez to Liverpool was £64.98 million, paid out in five installments to the Reds. The details of the fee were made available by a website called Football Leaks, which has obtained contract images in the past and leaked them online.

The fee officially makes Suarez the fourth-most expensive football transfer in history, behind Gareth Bale (Real Madrid), Cristiano Ronaldo (RM) and Neymar (Barcelona).

It goes almost without saying that Barcelona got the better end of the deal, with Suarez scoring 68 goals in just 86 matches and capturing five titles in their 2014-15 campaign upon joining Lionel Messi and Neymar as the third forward – including the Copa Del Ray, La Liga, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled to get strong returns from their big transfer signings. They lost to Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals in the 2014-15 season and then to Man City in the League Cup Final the following year.
