Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match against Barcelona, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has given his opinion on what it takes to win the Clasico, and what he and his teammates will be doing to secure victory.
Los Merengues sit 10 points behind their fierce rivals in La Liga with only eight matches of the season to play, but they could cut that gap to seven if they see off their arch enemies at the Nou Camp this weekend.
Barca will be favourites to win the match and see off their rivals; not only did the Catalan giants secure the three points in convincing fashion in the earlier league meeting between the two sides—with a 4-0 victory—but they will also enjoy home support and are on a fine run of form, having not lost since early October.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV [as per the club’s official YouTube channel], Ramos has expressed hope that if he and his teammates do certain things right, they can emerge victorious.
“Hopefully, Real Madrid can have a good match and get the victory,” the defender said. “Football is complicated, but we want to do things right.
“It’s easier when one has heart, character and attitude. We must try and defend well, because these games are decided by small details, and usually, the team that makes the fewest mistakes wins.”
