Man City wonderkid reveals that Guardiola’s been giving him the cold shoulder

Manchester City wonderkid Jack Byrne has revealed that incoming Citizens coach Pep Guardiola is yet to contact him and outline his future plans for the talent.

City confirmed on transfer deadline day earlier this year that they would be parting with current coach Manuel Pellegrini at the season’s end, and appointing Guardiola, who achieved such success with Barcelona before moving to Bayern Munich in 2013.

The Spanish coach will have his work cut out to sort out a messy situation at City, who remain alive in the Champions League—breaking new ground in Europe’s premier club competition—but have appeared listless and unmotivated in the Premier League.

The manager has never shied away from turning to youth at either Barca or Bayern, and in Byrne—who recently received his first invitation to train with the Ireland senior side—possesses a magnificent talent who he could yet opt to integrate into his squad.

However, speaking to the Dutch media [as per Goal], Byrne, who is currently on loan at SC Cambuur in the Eredivisie, has admitted that Guardiola is yet to contact him.

“I hope to be involved in the preparation for the new season,” the 19-year-old began, “but the new coach Pep Guardiola has not called me.
