Cool stats! Arsenal winter signing sets impressive mark in 4-0 win v Watford

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has quietly put together quite a number of impressive performances since joining the club in a January transfer move from Basel. Although the Egyptian star appeared to be the only one at the Emirates who didn’t score a goal against Watford on Saturday, he set a rather impressive mark that will surely earn him the respect of the fans in the months to come.

According to the Metro, Elneny set the season-high mark for passes in a single match – distributing the ball an astounding 121 times throughout the match as Arsenal possessed the ball for the majority of the match. He surpassed the mark of 120 passes previously set by his teammate Santi Cazorla earlier in the season against Newcastle United.

Elneny had a tough time breaking into the starting lineup immediately after his transfer, but emerged into a fan favourite by scoring Arsenal’s lone goal against Barcelona in the Champions League Round of 16, equalizing at Camp Nou before Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi sent the Gunners crashing back to earth for a 3-1 loss and 5-1 aggregate loss.

Elneny was earned the Arsenal Player of the Month award for March.
