Philippe Coutinho goal: Liverpool ace breaks tie with Spurs in crucial bout

Posted by

If anyone was going to break the crucial clash with Tottenham Hotspur wide open for Liverpool it was going to be Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian winger finally found his mark after both teams battled tooth-and-nail in the first half to go scoreless for 45 minutes.

Goalkeepers Hugo Lloris and Simon Mignolet made difficult saves seem routine for most of the first 50 minutes, but it proved to be Lloris who broke first, with Coutinho finishing a chance in the box with a strike to the bottom right corner that slipped out of the outstretched arms of the Spurs stopper.

The goal by Coutinho was his 10th of the 2015-16 campaign – the first double-digit goal season of his young career.

It would not prove enough to keep the Spurs down, however, as Harry Kane responded minutes later with an equalizer to keep the game knotted at 1-1.
