Man United target £45m Everton superstar for summer transfer – NOT Romelu Lukaku

If Man United are going to compete properly for a Premier League title in the near future then they need to augment their midfield and infuse it with much better talent. One such option available is Everton ace Ross Barkley, who has been enjoying a breakout season as a scoring threat despite Everton’s failure to win consistently.

According to the Daily Star [per the Metro], Man United are looking at Barkley as one of their top transfer targets for the summer and are lining up a bid of £45 million to seal the deal. The 22-year-old English attacker has quietly had the first double-digit goal season of his career, notching 12 goals and 7 assists in just over 2500 minutes of football.

Barkley is one of several high-profile players on Everton along with striker Romelu Lukaku and defender John Stones, both of whom have been speculated to make massive transfer moves this season.

Man United have suffered numerous cases of severe buyer’s remorse over the past few seasons, wasting tens of millions on flops like Angel Di Maria, Memphis Depay and Radamel Falcao.

With Barkley’s track record though, it would take a lot of failure for him to get lumped into that sorry lot.
