Leaked clip reveals Barcelona’s technically mesmerising game of piggy in the middle

In leaked footage from a recent Barcelona training session, the level of technical prowess on offer at the Catalan giants has been exposed…and it’s something special.

While the pressing offered by the man in the middle is regularly impressive and energetic, more often than not, the ‘piggy’ struggles to keep pace with his technically proficient teammates, who glide the ball between one another at lightning-quick speed, with players barely requiring to control the ball before zipping it to a teammate.

At one point, poor Dani Alves becomes so exasperated at chasing the ball around, that he takes out one of his fellow players in a scything slide tackle!

At one point, the Blaugrana manage 20 consecutive touches in a row, and if it’s so hard for the man in the middle to break up the play, one can only sympathise with the Catalan heavyweights’ opponents when they have the bit between their teeth in the heat of a contest.

In light of their 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final—where Barca came from behind to win thanks to goals from Luis Suarez—Sport report that Luis Enrique’s side have been given a day of rest.

They will be looking to return to winning ways in the league this weekend, when they face Real Sociedad on Saturday.
