Bundesliga wonderkid admits he dreams of Barcelona switch; forward reveals summer transfer plans

Schalke 04 forward Leroy Sane has confirmed that he dreams of representing Barcelona one day, but has confirmed that it’s likely he won’t move during the summer.

Sane burst onto the scene last season with a series of dazzling performances for Schalke. He remained at the club over the summer, and has impressed again this term, featuring 27 times in the Bundesliga, making five assists and scoring five goals.

Sane also impressed during Schalke’s run in the Europa League, both finding the net against Sparta Prague and contributing an assist against Asteras Tripolis.

As with any young player, Sane has occasionally struggled for consistency, but impressed during September and October in particular, scoring five goals and contributing two assists in these two months alone.

Speaking to Bild [subscription required], however, Sane has confirmed that he isn’t planning on moving on this summer.

“I think next season I will play at Schalke”, the 20-year-old began, before admitting that one day, he would be looking to move away from the Bundesliga side.

“However, I make no secret. Sometime in the future I want to play abroad at an even bigger club than Schalke. Most of all at Barca – even as a little boy that was my dream club.”

To date, Sane has one cap for Germany, and could be an outside bet to make the national team for this summer’s European Championships.
