Arsenal playmaker open to move to Euro heavyweights, according to report

According to reports in Turkey, Mesut Ozil is entertaining the possibility of moving to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, even going as far as to suggest the move could happen at the end of next season.

As reported by Fotomac, the Arsenal playmaker met secretly with the club three months ago as Fener sought to suss out Ozil’s openness towards a switch to Istanbul.

However, while the Germany international—who has Turkish origins—is understood to have indicated that he is not willing to move away from the Emirates Stadium at the end of the current season, he is considering a possible switch at the end of next season.

Even if the move came then, it would represent something of a shock, as Ozil would be only 28, and would still likely have some of his best years ahead of him.

So far this season, the attacking midfielder has scored five goals and contributed a whopping 18 assists in 29 appearances—seven more than the next most fruitful creator in the division.
