Man United defender brushes off Bayern Munich transfer links

Matteo Darmian has recently been connected to possible transfer moves, with a variety of top level clubs expressing interest in the Italian full-back. However, in the wake of the most recent rumours linking him with a move to Bundesliga and Champions League powerhouse Bayern Munich, the Man United defender was quick to quash them.

‘I love the Premier League, and I want to stay here for a long time,’ Darmian told the Manchester Evening News this past week when asked about the recent transfer rumours.

Darmian explained that he found the Premier League more physical and less reliant on tactics than in Serie A, where he played the bulk of his career prior to a £12.7 million transfer move from Torino to Man United in the summer 2015 transfer window.

‘There is a lot of difference because this is a big club, and from Serie A there are a lot of differences.

‘The Premier League is more physical and less tactical, this is the most important difference, but I think it is the best championship in the world, so I love it.’

The 26-year-old defender has started 22 of 25 Premier League games he’s played in this season and clocked in over 300 minutes in the Champions League prior to the team’s elimination in the group stage.
