Chelsea eye £30m Serie A star as key pickup for Antonio Conte

During his time in Serie A, Antonio Conte had plenty of time to scout Radja Nainggolan – a midfielder who played for Cagliari prior to his move to Roma. Now that he’s heading to Chelsea, Conte plans to snatch the underrated midfielder in a big-time deal.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have opened up negotiations with Roma over a possible transfer move for the £30 million-rated midfielder. Per the source, Remy Abbas – the agent for ex-Chelsea and current Roma winger Mohamed Salah – is helping to negotiate on behalf Nainggolan’s regular agent.

Abbas reportedly met with Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini in London recently to discuss the futures of Nainggolan and Mohamed Salah.

Nainggolan earned Serie A Team of the Year honours for the 2014-15 season after scoring five goals in 35 Serie A appearances and helping Roma earn Champions League qualification.

Should Nainggolan gain a spot on the Chelsea roster it would most likely spell the end for Nemanja Matic’s time at Stamford Bridge.
