Dele Alli goal video: Christian Eriksen goes to double figures with perfect assist v Manchester United

From tomorrow, Dele Alli will no longer be a teenage sensation. He will simply be a sensation.

On his last game before his 20th birthday, Alli came up with a crucial goal to give Tottenham Hotspur a 70th-minute lead in their Premier League clash with Manchester United at White Hart Lane.

He owes thanks to Christian Eriksen, who expertly picked him out with a left-footed cross. Had the Dane not delivered the cross so early, Alli may have been offside or cut off by a covering defender.

Eriksen now has 10 Premier League assists for the campaign – the fourth player to reach double figures after Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Manchester City’s David Silva and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester’s 2-0 win over Sunderland earlier today upped the pressure on Spurs in the title race. Alli’s goal might not have been his most spectacular of the campaign, but it was arguably his most important.

It opened the floodgates as Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela each scored in the following seven minutes as Mauricio Pochettino’s team closed the gap on the table-topping Foxes to seven points.
