Video: Liverpool 1-0 Stoke City – Moreno rocket gives Reds early lead

Liverpool needed to rest a good number of starters to prepare for their crucial Europa League match this week against Borussia Dortmund, so with a majority of backup players starting at Anfield there was a reasonable degree of uncertainty heading into their clash with eighth-placed Stoke City. However, Alberto Moreno quickly alleviated all of the fans’ stresses with a superb goal to take the lead over the Potters.

A simple pass from James Milner to Moreno at the 8′ mark set the veteran defender up with plenty of options to continue possession, but with no Stoke players close enough to take the ball from him, Moreno simply picked his spot and delivered an absolutely masterful strike that slipped under the outstretched arm of Jakob Haugaard.

Moreno’s leg may need to get reclassified as a NASA rocket and sent on a mission to Mars after that goal!

Even though Liverpool have two games in hand, the club can still pass Stoke City for eighth place on the Premier League table with a win today.

As of writing the score is Liverpool 1-0 Stoke City.
