Ex-Liverpool pariah on the brink of EPL return

Swansea City are understood to be primed to splash the cash at Brendan Rodgers as they look to bring the ex-Liverpool coach back to the Premier League.

The Northern Irish manager left his post at Anfield in October, with the Reds opting to replace him with Jurgen Klopp.

While the German coach hasn’t been able to find the level of consistency that he surely would have liked, he has managed to galvanise the Merseyside giants, who were listing badly under Rodgers.

However, the former Chelsea youth team coach still has admirers in the EPL, with the Telegraph reporting that ex-employers Swansea are planning to make a fresh attempt at tempting Rodgers back to work, on the back of a potential £140 million takeover.

The 43-year-old left the Swans four years ago after taking them to the EPL for the first time. However, with incumbent coach Francesco Guidolin appearing more and more likely to depart at the season’s end, Rodgers cold well be on the brink of a return.
