Carragher makes bold prediction for van Gaal’s future as Manchester United are outclassed by Tottenham

In light of their miserable defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has forecast that Louis van Gaal will no longer be at Manchester United should the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Red Devils have been thoroughly unconvincing this season, and while LVG appeared to ride out the storm during the middle of the campaign, and keep hold of his position, the former Liverpool defender clearly doesn’t believe the Dutch coach has long left to run at Old Trafford.

“In terms of Louis van Gaal,” Carragher began, speaking on Super Sunday as per Sky Sports, “I don’t see him at the club next year if he doesn’t get top four.”

Indeed, following Sunday’s miserable result, a return to the Champions League appears further away than ever for the Red Devils.

Spurs dissected United during six second-half minutes, killing the match with three quick goals from Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela.

Not only will the crushing defeat surely dent United’s morale, but it also leaves them firmly off the pace in the hunt for the fourth Champions League spot.
