Big-money flop has left Manchester United legend despairing, according to report

According to The Sun, Manchester United legend and assistant coach Ryan Giggs is understood to not be a fan of forward Memphis Depay.

The tabloid, describing and discussing the troubled atmosphere pervading at Old Trafford in light of the Red Devils’ unimpressive campaign and, particularly, their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, have revealed that Giggs despairs of the forward.

Netherlands international Depay was introduced in the 76th minute of United’s showing against Spurs, by which point the Red Devils were already 3-0 down following goals from Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela.

Depay—as has been his way for much of the campaign to date—made little impact, with a touchline altercation with Kyle Walker his key contribution.

The forward was signed by the EPL giants in the summer for an eye-watering fee of £31 million, according to BBC Sport, but has largely failed to lead the line effectively for United.

Indeed, Depay has become something of a peripheral figure for the Red Devils, managing just 14 EPL starts—and a further 10 showings from the substitutes bench—scoring just twice.
