Van Gaal’s Rashford treatment stuns Man United players, says report

According to The Sun, Manchester United‘s players have been left stunned by Louis van Gaal’s treatment of Marcus Rashford in light of the Red Devils’ defeat by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

While United clung on during an unconvincing first half, they ended up capitulating as Spurs scored three goals in six explosive second half minutes.

Dele Alli opened the scoring, before Toby Alderweireld’s header and Erik Lamela’s powerful finished killed the match as a contest.

Spurs’ trio may also have finished off van Gaal, whose side managed just five shots to the home side’s 16 in Sunday’s disappointing showing.

According to The Sun [as above], the players are actively questioning the Dutch coach’s approach, while they are particularly peeved at the manager’s treatment of Rashford, who was actively singled out for criticism after the match [via Independent].

The wonderkid made an instant impact at the club—scoring four goals in his first two showings—but has managed only one goal in his last six showings.

Surely a verbal lashing at the hands of the manager will do little for the youngster’s confidence, and van Gaal’s decision to replace Rashford at half time will have had a similar impact.
