Video: Cristiano Ronaldo makes mockery of Real Madrid’s first-leg deficit with two goals in two minutes

Few teams overturn a two-goal first leg deficit in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. But nothing is impossible when you have Cristiano Ronaldo in your team, luckily for Real Madrid.

The Portuguese wiped out Wolfsburg’s 2-0 lead over Real in the space of two minutes at the Bernabeu this evening. Not many of his 92 Champions League goals would have been easier than this one.

Ronaldo capitalised on slack Wolfsburg defending to tap home Dani Carvajal’s deflected cross at the far post on 15 minutes, and then levelled the tie on aggregate with a second goal two minutes later.

And this was a typical Ronaldo goal as he jumped like a salmon in the penalty area to glance a header across Wolfsburg keeper Diego Benaglio and inside the far stick. Panic averted for Los Blancos!

From this position, the 10-time European champions should have no problem closing out the tie and qualifying for the semi-finals. And don’t bet against Ronaldo completing his hat-trick either.
