Tottenham open talks over signing of 18-year-old wonderkid coveted by Premier League big boys

Tottenham Hotspur seem to have a fondness for all things Dembele.

Their Belgian international midfielder Mousa Dembele has been superb in their Premier League title tilt, and his namesake nearly moved to White Hart Lane from Fulham in January, Sky Sports reports.

Now, according to France Football, Spurs have opened talks over the possible signing of Rennes wonderkid Ousmane Dembele, because, you know, they like a bit of variety when it comes to forenames.

France Football understands that Tottenham have held negotiations with the representatives of the sought-after 18-year-old striker in London, with a view to a transfer at the end of the season.

However, the report adds that Spurs may face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, Spurs may fancy their chances of landing Dembele due to their excellent track record of giving youngsters a chance under Mauricio Pochettino – Dele Alli and Harry Kane being examples.

The French forward has scored a very impressive 12 goals in 22 Ligue 1 games in his breakthrough season for Rennes, so it is little wonder that there are eyes watching him from across the continent.
