Liverpool’s reward for their epic comeback against Borussia Dortmund will be a semi-final encounter against Villarreal as they chase Europa League glory.
The Reds avoided an awkward away trip to Shakhtar Donetsk and a two-legged tie with back-to-back champions Sevilla, who meet in the other last-four tie.
Jurgen Klopp and his players will travel to Spain on April 28 for the first leg, before welcoming the La Liga club to Merseyside for the reverse fixture on May 5.
Liverpool fans on Twitter are delighted that they got the “ideal draw”, with most agreeing that Villarreal seem to be the weakest of the three possibilities on paper.
A few Reds supporters who were more cautious, but they still believe that the electric Anfield atmosphere which inspired the Dortmund revival can take them to the final.
