Chelsea have kickstarted their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore by contacting his agent over a summer move, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian publication claims that the Ligue 1 champions are ready to sell the signing who started their recent revolution when he joined from Palermo for £30m in 2011.

Tuttomercatoweb adds that PSG would expect to recoup most of that transfer fee and could also find a suitor in Manchester City when Pep Guardiola arrives in the summer.

It seems as though Chelsea have made the first move in the race for the Argentine ahead of their Premier League rivals, and they would probably be more desperate to land the player.

Willian has been the only reliable attacking midfielder for the Blues this season, while former Chelsea winger Kevin de Bruyne has made a significant impact at the Etihad Stadium.

Pastore, 26, has scored 36 goals and supplied 43 assists in 205 appearances for PSG, although 15 of those goals came in his first and best season in the French capital.
