WWE superstar calls out Wayne Rooney, challenges him to a match

Wayne Rooney got his first taste of WWE at a show in Manchester last year and actually got involved in one of the matches. Now though, another wrestler wants a piece of the Man United striker.

In an interview with Soccer AM, WWE superstar Sheamus has called out Rooney to a match when the pro wrestling outfit returns to England for the Wrestlemania Revenge tour in Manchester this coming week.

‘You may be good at Manchester United and you may be good in front of goal, but you have got no chance in the WWE ring,’ Sheamus said in his message to Rooney.

‘Don’t worry about King Barrett (Wade), he is a little soft. If you want someone hard and a real fight, take on the Celtic Warrior.

‘I will be ready and waiting in that ring in Manchester’.

Back in a November 9 episode of Monday Night RAW, Rooney was confronted by King Barrett during a match. The WWE star poked Rooney in the chest during the confrontation, earning a slap that sent Barrett kayfabe crumpling to the floor, which distracted Sheamus and cost him a match.

The following day Barrett cut a promo from inside Old Trafford where he called out Rooney and waited for the Three Lions captain to show up and accept his challenge for a fight.
