Liverpool fall behind Everton in race for Swedish ace

No, not Zlatan – RB Lepzig winger Emil Forsberg. The highly touted star in Bundesliga II has drawn the attention of several Premier League teams, including the Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton, are both in the hunt for the young Swede. But it looks like Roberto Martinez’s side may have taken the lead in the race for his signature.

According to the Daily Star, Everton are weighing up a £12 million bid for the 24-year-old Swedish winger and hope to get him before Liverpool make a bid.

Forsberg has six goals in 28 Bundesliga II appearances for RB Leipzig this season and has reportedly been a target of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the past during his Borussia Dortmund days. He has been capped 15 times for Sweden as a midfielder.

RB Lepzig have benefited greatly from Forsberg’s play and only need seven points from their next four games to secure promotion to Bundesliga for the first time in its short history as of writing.
