Video: Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool – Sturridge’s backheel assist to Firmino sparks the Reds

Everyone knows how lethal Daniel Sturridge‘s feet are, but who knew that he was just as lethal with the back heel kick? Apparently Roberto Firmino did – and Liverpool reaped the rewards from Sturridge’s quick-thinking.

Against AFC Bournemouth, Sturridge got inside the box, where the Liverpool striker made a superb back heel flick towards the goal that was narrowly deflected by Artur Boruc – but right into the awaiting Firmino, who promptly made the Bournemouth goalkeeper pay with any easy tap into the goal.

Sturridge would follow up his heady play with an actual header off a Jordon Ibe kick that gave Liverpool the 2-0 lead over the Cherries before the halftime whistle blew.

Any thoughts that the Reds would be in the midst of an emotional hangover after their epic comeback win against Borussia Dortmund last week is apparently sorely mistaken as Jurgen Klopp’s B-team are rolling over the home team.
