Juventus marched on in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive Serie A title on Wednesday night with a 3-0 win over Lazio in Turin.
Mario Mandzukic gave his side the lead late in the first half, as he applied the finishing touch to Paul Pogba’s work in the build-up.
The hosts dominated the opening period and were unfortunate not to be comfortably ahead, but it was the heroics of Federico Marchetti and some wastefulness in front of goal that saw Lazio seemingly set to survive until the half-time interval.
However they were undone by Mandzukic at a crucial time in the game before being reduced to 10 men just three minutes into the second half when Patric received his second yellow card.
That in turn allowed Juve to make the most of their numerical advantage, as Dybala eventually found a way past Marchetti from the penalty spot before adding a third just after the hour mark.
The Argentine forward took his tally for the season to 16 with his brace, as he continues to emerge as an integral part of his side’s success in what is his first year with the club.
Following their thumping 6-0 win over Bologna on Tuesday night, Napoli would have hoped for a slip up from their title rivals against the Biancocelesti in order to open the Scudetto race back up.
Massimiliano Allegri got the perfect reaction from his players instead, as they close in on the title with just four games remaining this season. Although they do face a tricky trip to Florence to take on Fiorentina on Sunday night, few will see them surrendering their lead having now won 23 of their last 24 Serie A games.
