Video: Manchester United 2-0 Crystal Palace – Darmian’s rare goal is smashing

Posted by

It isn’t often that full-back Matteo Darmian gets a goal – he had just seven in 226 games heading into today’s match against Crystal Palace – but the Man United defender would not be denied today as he recorded the eighth (and perhaps greatest) goal of his career.

At the 55′ mark, a Man United  corner was partially cleared to the edge of the area – right where Darmian was waiting. The Italian quickly leapt into the air and unloaded the full strength of his leg into the kick, smashing the post and bouncing the ball in to the net for the Red Devils’ second goal of the day.

While Darmian will only get credited with the one goal, he should have been credited with an assist on the own goal from Crystal Palace defender Damian Delaney – who put the ball in his own net off a cross from Darmian in the first five minutes of the match.

Man of the Match? Hard to argue otherwise…
