Magic number now five as Leicester City beat down Swansea City

A goal from Riyad Mahrez, two goals from Leonardo Ulloa and a fourth from Mark Albrighton spelled easy victory for Leicester City as the Jamie Vardy-less Foxes trounced Swansea City in a 4-0 victory at King Power Stadium.

The win did more than keep Leicester City eight points ahead of second-place Tottenham Hotspur. With only three weeks left in their season and a game in hand for the Spurs, the ‘magic number’ of points for Leicester to win the title is now five.

All the Foxes need to do is win and draw two or win twice in their final matches against Man United, Everton and Chelsea, and they will win the title. It will be no easy task without Jamie Vardy, who is expected to miss at least the next game against Man United with a ban for improper conduct.

However, Leicester can clinch the title as early as next week if they beat Man United at Old Trafford next week combined with Tottenham Hotspur losing or tying with West Bromwich Albion on Monday night – an unlikely scenario considering the Spurs are 9/2 favourites over West Brom. But stranger things have happened this season…
