Everton manager Roberto Martinez may still think he’s the man for the job – even after squandering a golden opportunity at Wembley to play in the FA Cup Final – but some of his players appear to disagree.
In a very subtle move following the club’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United following a last-minute score from Anthony Martial, Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles went on his Instagram account and decided to ‘Like’ someone’s post supporting Martinez’s sacking.
The Everton boss may want to have a few choice words with his goalkeeper after that subtle move. Then again, if Everton can’t win another game this year – Martinez may not get a chance to.
The Toffees have endured a frustrating season as they sit at 11th place on the table. Despite scoring the seventh-most goals in the league, they have won just nine games – fifth-fewest – and allowed the eighth-most goals in the league.
Martinez has been heavily criticized for his defensive schemes and his inability to get the most out of England defender John Stones along with a multitude of other valuable players.
