Crystal Palace took the lead after just six minutes in their FA Cup semi-final encounter with Watford at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles took full advantage of their quick start with Yannick Bolasie heading home at the back post after Watford were unable to deal with a Yohan Cabaye corner.
Bolasie had made a threatening start to the game, and he was rewarded with both sides hoping to set up a clash with Manchester United in the final after the Red Devils saw off Everton on Saturday.
Although Palace struck first, it wasn’t long before the Hornets grew into the game and nearly found an equaliser as they put sustained pressure on their opponents and carved out some goalscoring opportunities.
While Watford have secured their place in the Premier League next season, Palace remain in trouble as they sit just eight points above the relegation zone.
That will likely be enough for them, but both clubs would undoubtedly love the opportunity to look forward to a cup final at Wembley to round off their season.
