Liverpool face stiff London competition for Man United flop

As Man United reportedly prepare to kick £25 million flop Memphis Depay to the curb, Liverpool are believed to be waiting to pick up the Dutch starlet. However, it may not be so easy for the Reds as a rising London club hope to land the Man United flop too.

According to TransferMarketWeb [per the Metro], West Ham United have joined in the race for Depay as they continue their hunt for a Europa League spot. Though Liverpool have been pegged as the team to beat to land Depay, West Ham have the edge over Liverpool in the race for the last spot.

Depay has just seven goals in 47 appearances for the Red Devils this year and not a single assist. Last year he was the leading scorer in Eredivisie.

West Ham superstar Dimitri Payet is coming off an unexpectedly brilliant season in which he recorded nine goals and nine assists en route to a spot on the PFA Team of the Year and a nomination for PFA Player of the Year. However, the French winger may be primed to leave West Ham and join a bigger club – which could in turn open up a spot on the roster for Depay.
