Real Madrid wideman issues warning to Man City ahead of semi-final second leg

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has insisted that Los Merengues will ‘respond’ following their Champions League semi-final first leg draw against Manchester City.

Real delivered a tepid and uninspired showing at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, and were unable to bag the away goal that could have given them control in the tie. Now, the Citizens will know that if they can open the scoring at the Bernabeu, they can put Los Blancos in a particularly sticky situation.

Real will be confident that, with Cristiano Ronaldo back in the side, they can trouble City going forward, although Carvajal and his fellow defenders will surely be expecting Sergio Aguero to up his game following an underwhelming first leg.

Speaking to Real Madrid television [as per the club’s official website], Carvajal has issued a warning to City and insisted that the 10-time European champions will give everything on the turf in order to see off the Citizens and reach the final.

“We will respond [on Wednesday] and give everything on the pitch in order to reach the final of the Champions League,” Carvajal began, looking ahead to the City return match.

“We have had a very strong month and the team are on the rise,” he continued. “On Saturday we have a final in the league, and then the semi-final of the Champions League, with our fans hoping that we can get past the tie.”
