Chelsea star man the subject of heavyweight interest from China; international forward stalling on new deal

Chelsea forward Willian is the subject of transfer interest from Chinese heavyweights Guangzhou Evergrande.

According to the Mirror, the Chinese Super League side—currently managed by former Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari—are targeting the Brazil international, who has been one of the stand-out performers in a thoroughly miserable campaign for the reigning champions.

While Chelsea won the Premier League title last season, swathes of their squad have failed to come close to matching last year’s quality and consistency, resulting in a truly miserable campaign.

Willian, however, has arguably improved his performance, and the 27-year-old has managed five goals and five assists in the Premier League, as well as a further five goals in the Champions League.

His performances have caught the eye of Big Phil, who is understood to be willing to double the £120,000-per-week wages proposed by the Stamford Bridge giants, according to the Mirror.

The tabloid indicate that Willian is yet to sign a new deal to remain in west London, despite a lucrative offer being on the table, and such hesitation may well fuel speculation that his future is away from the Premier League.
