The Reds could be adding a sensational midfield talent to their ranks this summer as La Liga giants Real Madrid consider parting ways with benchwarming midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
According to Transfer Tavern via Defensa Central, Liverpool are prepared to offer Real Madrid up to €30 million to bring Kovacic to Anfield this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Real Madrid this past season in a big transfer move from Inter Milan, where he had been a three-year starter. During the 2014-15 season for the Serie A giants, Kovacic appeared in 44 games and scored a career-high eight goals along with three assists.
Kovacic has been used primarily as a substitute for Real Madrid this season, making just 11 starts between La Liga and the Champions League in 31 appearances for the Spanish giants. His lone goal of the season came in an 8-0 romp of Malmo in the UCL group stage while he added assists in a 2-1 win over Granada and in a 12-2 win over Rayo Vallecano.
