Liverpool plotting move for Bundesliga keeper as Klopp finally seeks to replace Mignolet

Liverpool are understood to be planning a transfer move for FC Koln keeper Timo Horn.

The Sun report that Jurgen Klopp wants the German stopper to be his No. 1 at Anfield, replacing Simon Mignolet, who has been something of a problematic figure for the Reds this season.

The Belgium international has never truly convinced since moving to Anfield from Sunderland in 2013, and after a series of high-profile gaffes and nervous showings this term, looks set to be usurped—at least according to The Sun’s report.

The tabloid state that Klopp sees Horn as a potential long-term prospect for the Merseyside heavyweights between the sticks and sent the club’s chief scout, Dave Fallows, to cast an eye over the towering Germany U-21 international during their 0-0 draw at Augsburg on Friday evening.

Perplexingly, Liverpool recently awarded Mignolet with a five-year deal, which suggested—at least at the time—as though they were planning on sticking with the Belgian.

Should Klopp succeed in his plotted raid on Horn, it’s difficult to imagine what the future would hold for Mignolet at Anfield.
