Antoine Griezmann: Manchester United lining up £65m bid for Atletico Madrid’s CL hero

Manchester United are reportedly targeting a £65m swoop for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

The Frenchman scored the crucial away goal at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday which sent Atletico into the Champions League final at the expense of Bayern Munich – his 31st of the season in all competitions.

According to The Sun, Old Trafford scouts have been monitoring the 25-year-old forward as they look to bring in a world-class goalscorer this summer, as part of another revamp of their playing squad.

And The Sun adds that Jose Mourinho’s potential appointment as Red Devils manager would only increase United’s interest in Griezmann because the Special One is a firm admirer of the Atletico star.

United might not find it easy to get their hands on Griezmann. The Sun reports that Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who also want Mourinho as their next boss, are all keen on the player.

And Griezmann would have little reason to leave Atletico, who could finish the season as a Champions League and La Liga winner. The Sun claims Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is United’s alternative target.
