Arsenal midfield star makes return after six-month layoff

Santi Cazorla is back to fitness apparently after missing the better part of the last six months due to various leg injuries. The Spanish midfielder returned to Arsenal and played for the Under-21 side for 62 minutes in a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers this week.

Cazorla has not started a game for Arsenal since November and last appeared in the club’s 1-1 draw against Norwich City at the end of said month. He has recorded four assists this season and earned Man of the Match honors after helping the Gunners to an upset win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The 31-year-old Spaniard was sorely missed during his absence as the team was ravaged by injuries during a crucial stretch of the season. Nacho Monreal singled out Cazorla’s absence as one of the main reasons the team ultimately lost their bid for the Premier League title this season.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger decides to use Cazorla in either of the last two games against Man City and Aston Villa.
