Arsenal transfer news: Gunners eyeing shock move for wideman who can’t even get on the pitch for relegation strugglers

Arsenal are understood to be considering a move to sign Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons.

According to the Mirror, the Gunners have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, who has been linked with the exit door at St James’ Park when his contract comes to an end this summer.

While Aarons is a highly rated talent, the Magpies have seemingly failed to offer him adequate terms, and he appears destined to leave the club for nothing at the season’s end.

However, while it’s understandable that Arsene Wenger would be tempted to recruit a talented youngster without having to pay a transfer fee, Aarons has done little to suggest that he could make an instant impact at the Emirates Stadium.

Indeed, this season, the Anglo-Jamaican winger has struggled to establish himself under either Steve McClaren or Rafael Benitez, making just eight appearances all term.

While these rumours initially surfaced earlier in the campaign, rumours recently suggest that the player’s recent upturn in playing time has prompted the Gunners to revive their interest.
