Chelsea star edges closer to exit after Conte’s big decision

Thibaut Courtois appears more likely than ever to leave Chelsea this summer, according to The Sun.

The tabloid report that the Belgian stopper has been informed that incoming manager Antonio Conte has ruled that current goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon will not be leaving his post at Stamford Bridge.

The news comes as a blow to Courtois, with the tabloid suggesting that the 23-year-old is unhappy with his working relationship with the French trainer, and had pressed for a change during the offseason.

Indeed, despite Courtois having apparently issued an ultimatum to the club—insisting that he would only remain if a new coach was brought in to work with him—he has been denied his wish by Conte.

After starring for the Blues last term, helping Jose Mourinho’s side to win the Premier League title, the former Atletico Madrid stopper has endured a miserable 2015-16 campaign.

While many of his teammates in West London have endured testing seasons, few have fared worse than Courtois, who has been sent off twice and had to deal with injury concerns.

However, it’s somewhat surprising that one miserable campaign has seemingly tarnished the stopper in Conte’s eyes, and it would surely be a risk for Chelsea to cash in on such a promising keeper so soon in his career.
