Real Madrid eyeing Chelsea first-teamer, but £65m price tag may prove a major problem

Real Madrid are understood to be considering an approach for Chelsea‘s Thibaut Courtois this summer, according to reports.

The Daily Mail  note that Los Merengues are eyeing the stopper, and while no offer has yet been made, this could be one of the offseason rumours to keep a close eye on, with Los Blancos’ high-profile pursuit of David De Gea last year evidence that they are keen on signing a new goalkeeper.

However, it remains to be seen whether Courtois will be their man.

According to the tabloid, the Pensioners have slapped a £65 million price tag on the Belgium international, which may dissuade Real, particularly considering his underwhelming season in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been sent off twice and also endured a spell on the sidelines through injury, although his struggles may give Real leverage as they look to lower the price tag.

According to The Sun, Courtois appears closer to ever to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, with the keeper’s request for incoming coach Antonio Conte to change his goalkeeping coach having been denied.
