Video: Manchester United injury curse back in full flow as Matteo Darmian stretchered off

Manchester United lost striker Anthony Martial prior to kick off against Norwich City on Saturday, and they were soon nursing another blow.

Italian international Matteo Darmian was stretchered off, visibly in real discomfort, in the first half after the collision below, and based on his reaction it looks as though it could be a serious setback.

With ambitions of making Antonio Conte’s squad for Euro 2016 this summer, it will be a major blow for the former Torino full-back if the injury puts his participation in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, from Conte’s perspective, it could be another selection headache after it was confirmed this week that he would be without Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti for the tournament.

The Azzurri rely on the pair to form an important part of their squad, and so it remains to be seen how the incoming Chelsea boss deals with their absences, although he will of course await updates on Darmian to discover the full extent of his knock.

Ahead of the European Championship, Darmian will of course hope to not be forced to miss out on his first FA Cup final later this month.
