Arsenal stunned by London foes in €35m shock transfer

It looks like Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi could be heading to London this summer – but not at Emirates Stadium. Despite a concerted effort from Arsenal to bring the Argentine star into the fold, the Gunners might watch as he slips through their fingers and joins rival West Ham United.

According to Transfer Tavern via Football Italia, West Ham are prepared to pay as much as €35 million for Icardi’s transfer, as well as meet his considerable salary demands. Such a move would be the biggest transfer fee in club history.

Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old star, so they will likely have to up their offer or watch him play for another London team that’s on the rise.

Icardi has 47 goals with Inter over the last three seasons, 38 of which have come in his last two years in Serie A.

West Ham claimed four of six points from Arsenal this past season, beating them 2-0 in the season opener and drawing 3-3 with the Gunners in April.
