Alexis continues hot form to keep St Totteringham’s Day dream alive for Arsenal

Arsenal twice came from behind to earn a point at Manchester City on Sunday.

Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez – the Chilean with his six goal in seven Premier League games – secured a 2-2 draw for the Gunners, who can still catch North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Sanchez’s leveller, which came after Kevin De Bruyne had scored a brilliant solo effort, was a typical Arsenal goal.

Tottenham – who have not finished above Arsenal in 21 years – have been clear of neighbours for the entire run-in, but their 2-1 defeat to Southampton earlier today, coupled with this result, means that the Gunners can steal second place if they beat Aston Villa on the final day and Spurs lost at Newcastle.

Meanwhile, City can forget about second. Third, too, looks out of reach for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, who will now be petrified about Manchester United.

Fourth place is now in United’s hands. If they win their final two games, they will steal the final Champions League place off City.
