Video: Liverpool 1-0 Watford – Joe Allen scores as Reds take first half lead

It has been a roller-coaster ride of a week – let alone a season – for Liverpool. In just 10 days time the Reds have an opportunity to play for a Champions League spot when they take on Sevilla in the Europa League Final. But that game wasn’t on the Reds’ minds today. Instead, it was Joe Allen showing up in a big way.

In just his seventh Premier League start this season, Allen received a superb pass from Christian Benteke that he slipped past Watford goalkeeper Gomes to take an early lead at Anfield.

The goal for Allen was his second Premier League goal of the season and his third in all competitions.

Benteke’s assist on the goal served as his second straight BPL game with a contributed goal. In his disappointing campaign for the Reds, Benteke has just two other instances where he has recorded goals in back-to-back BPL games.
