£80m Arsenal transfer spree planned to appease angry fans, but Alexis could move the other way

Some of Arsenal’s angriest fans have been widely mocked for their protests against the tight-fisted way their club is being run.

However, even the most pro-Wenger supporters must feel slightly aggrieved with what’s going on at the Emirates.

The Gunners were the only team in Europe’s major five leagues last summer who failed to sign a single outfield player, but this off-season sounds like it’s going to be very different.

So much so, The Sun are reporting that the fourth-place specialists are ready to splash £80m on a trio of reinforcements in a bid to win over furious followers.

The newspaper claim that a £30m deal to land Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is close, while Alvaro Morata could be snapped up from Juventus for the same price.

Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the final member of the supposed £80m gang.

However, The Sun suggest he could be arriving as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, while Theo Walcott, Per Mertesacker, Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs are also named as players who may be on their way out, along with Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini.
