John Terry tribute cancelled as Chelsea tease shocking u-turn

Chelsea have planned a proposed ‘farewell’ tribute to John Terry, prompting speculation that the legendary captain will not be leaving the club after all.

The Sun report that the club had dedicated a portion of their end-of-season bash at Stamford Bridge was to feature a special tribute to the 35-year-old.

However, the tabloid note that the event’s coordinators were informed by officials from the Blues on Wednesday that the proposed section was to be scrapped.

Of course, while the change in running order could be nothing, The Sun question whether the news is the biggest clue yet that the 2014-15 English champions are set to perform a shocking u-turn and invite the captain to sign another deal at Stamford Bridge, potentially keeping him to the club for another season.

If Chelsea aren’t planning to change their mind on the veteran defender, his spell at the club will come to an end after Sunday’s fixture against champions Leicester City.

However, the defender will play no part in that match, having received a second red card—and thus a two-match ban—against Sunderland in a 3-2 defeat last weekend.

Unless the Blues do decide to offer the defender a new deal, that sad moment will be his final contribution in a Pensioners shirt.
