Picture: Guus Hiddink handed bizarre leaving gift by Chelsea

After being appointed interim boss in December, Guus Hiddink will take charge of his final game at Chelsea when they host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Dutchman brings an end to his second spell at the club having steadied the ship after the initial struggles under Jose Mourinho in the early stages of the campaign.

With Antonio Conte now set to arrive later this summer in an attempt to take the club forward, Hiddink will remain a fans favourite at Chelsea for answering the call when they needed him back.

However, of all the things that the club could have given him as a parting gift, a personalised scooter was arguably not top of the list for many people as he was handed the keys to his new toy at the club’s Player of the Season awards ceremony on Friday night.

Coupled with the new set of Chelsea-themed golf clubs that formed part of his present, the Dutch tactician looks like he’ll have plenty to do from this summer onwards if he opts to not make an immediate return to management having previously suggested that he will retire at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, it will do little to take away from his contribution to Chelsea, and while in an ideal world owner Roman Abramovich will hope not to have to make another phone call to the former PSV boss, he’ll know that the veteran tactician will probably be ready to step in if required.
