Following a 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir, fans of Eskisehirspor rioted as the club moved to the brink of being relegated.
The Turkish outfit can still escape the drop and secure their top flight status in their last game of the season, as a win coupled with a defeat for 15th-placed Gaziantepspor would see the two sides potentially swap places.
However, that wasn’t enough to prevent supporters from creating unsavoury scenes as well as put their own safety at risk as the video below shows a fire being started on the pitch, while there are also fires breaking out in various spots in the stands.
This isn’t the first incident in Turkey this season where incidents off the pitch have overshadowed the football, and the authorities seemingly have a real job on their hands to restore law and order.
While Eskisehirspor will remain focused on the task in hand and attempt to avoid relegation next week, their stadium and reaction from the supporters won’t do much to inspire them to get the job done.
