EPL coach confirms that he’s becoming a Manchester United fan

West Ham United coach Slaven Bilic has confirmed that he is going to be a Manchester United fan ahead of a big week for the Red Devils.

The Hammers’ inconsistent form continued into the final day of the season, as they followed up their emotional midweek triumph over United to lose 2-1 against Stoke City.

Mame Biram Diouf scored a late winner after Giannelli Imbula’s 55th-minute strike cancelled out Michael Antonio’s opener.

The defeat means that West Ham end the season in seventh place, despite having been in Champions League contention with three matches to play.

Now, the Hammers could even end the season empty handed, unless Manchester United beat Crystal Palace in the weekend’s FA Cup.

Should Alan Pardew’s Eagles win the final, they will take the final European position, but with Manchester United already having qualified through their league position, a Red Devils win would ensure that the East London side can begin life at the Olympic Stadium with continental competition.

“I am going to be a Manchester United fan. Of course we want them to win because we really deserve to be in Europe the way we played this season,” Bilic told journalists, as per the Mirror.

“All season you are there, you are around. It makes us disappointed,” he continued.

“Apart from Leicester – they are a one-off – neutral fans say we are among two or three teams that have been praised the whole season. I’ve enjoyed it, we all have.

“Are we desperate for Europe? To be desperate you have to be there every year and then when you are not there you are desperate. But we really wanted it, and hopefully we are going to be there.”
