Man United get HUGE boost for Real Madrid star after rivals abandon £60m chase

There have been increasing reports that Man United are leading the chase for Real Madrid winger James Rodriguez. The 24-year-old Colombian is coming off a disappointing campaign where he made his fewest total appearances in over five years. Man United would have a place for him however – and received yet another big boost towards their pursuit of the Los Blancos star.

According to the Daily Star, Manchester City have dropped out of the race for Rodriguez due to Pep Guardiola‘s lack of interest in the Colombian superstar. The news would serve as a huge boost for Man United as the Citizens are one of the few clubs in the world, let alone England, that can match their spending abilities nearly dollar for dollar.

Rodriguez has reportedly been offered to Manchester United for £60 million – a £3 million markdown from the fee Real Madrid paid for him in 2014.

Per the source, Rodriguez has also been linked to Chelsea, Arsenal and Serie A champions Juventus.

The La Liga giants paid a mint for Rodriguez to get him out of Monaco in 2014 but are dissatisfied with his production to this point. He has 20 goals in 55 appearances for the club.
