Son of Arsenal legend signs with Gunners’ academy

The legacy of former Arsenal winger Robert Pires will continue at the Emirates for years to come as the team has signed the son of the French legend.

In a recent Instagram post, Pires confirmed that Arsenal had signed his son, Theo, to an academy contract.

Being only seven years old, it will probably be a decade at least before young Theo is ready to play football at a senior level – let alone with Arsenal. But he has as solid a football pedigree as anyone in the world.

Robert Pires won two Premier League titles and three FA Cup titles with Arsenal during his six years with the club, earning three PFA Team of the Year honours. He ended up making 189 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 62 goals from 2000 to 2006. Pires also represented France in their 1998 World Cup, Euro 2000 and back-to-back Confederation Cup campaigns.

Needless to say, if Theo Pires becomes even a fraction as good as the former Arsenal attacker, the club will be in good hands.
